VALE Nickel Processing Plant Project in Long Harbour Newfoundland, Canada

1 August 2010

Mixtec North America has been awarded a contract worth approximately USD 2.5 million from Fluor Canada Ltd. on behalf of Vale (formerly Inco, CVRD and Vale Inco) for industrial mixers to be installed in the Long Harbour Processing Plant near St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), Canada.

The scope of supply includes approximately 100 industrial agitators and drives that will be mounted on tanks and tank covers provided by others.  The agitators will be used in a hydrometallurgical process that will treat sulfide concentrates arriving by ship from the Voisey’s Bay nickel mine on the east coast of Labrador, and produce nickel, copper and cobalt.

Mixtec North America President Joshua Walden and staff, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, are working closely with Fluor Canada to provide the engineering, design and supply of this significant package of equipment.  It is noteworthy that Mixtec also supplied about 60 agitators for the Goro nickel project of Vale Inco in New Caledonia two years ago.  Vale will clearly be an important reference user for Mixtec for many years to come.
